A welcome from Mrs Berry, our Headteacher

I am delighted to welcome you to Coombe Hill Infants’ School.  We hope that the following guide will be useful for preparing your child to join us, it includes all the key information.

Our aim is to provide a learning environment that ensures success by offering a safe, caring, supportive and inclusive school in which all children can flourish and grow.

Our dedicated staff work passionately to ensure each pupil is safe and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

We value our home-school links and we will work in close partnership with you.

We operate an Open Door policy so please do contact us if you have any    questions or concerns—no matter how small.

Reception 2023/24 Induction Dates

 

Your child's class and new teacher

We will be letting you know about your child's new class and teacher after May half term in time for the transition/induction events.

 

Welcome Evening - Tuesday 20 June at 6.30pm

For our new Reception parents and carers (no children please at this particular session) with Mrs Berry, our Headteacher, and members of our Reception staff team.

 

Coombe Hill Schools Summer Fair - Saturday 24 June from 12 noon to 3.30pm

All of our new Reception families are welcome to attend our Summer Fair, it is a lovely event run by our PTA and will allow you to see the school grounds and meet our community in a relaxed way.  Held jointly with our partner Junior School you are all warmly invited to attend.

 

Parent and new teacher meetings - Monday 26 June or Tuesday 27 June or Wednesday 28 June between 3.30 - 6pm

We will be holding short meetings with your child's new teacher at the school.  We will ask you to sign up for a slot electronically in due course.  This will be an opportunity for your child's new teacher to learn more about your child and for you to share any information that you think might be useful, and to ask questions.  If you feel that you require a longer meeting to discuss anything please call or contact the School Office.

 

Stay and Play sessions - Thursday 6 July - in the morning for 45 minutes

(date change due to scheduled industrial action)

You will take your child to their new classroom and leave them in the safe hands of their new teacher and teaching assistant.  We ask you to then leave your child to explore their new classroom with their new classmates, the sessions will be for 45 minutes with 15 children (half of the class) at a time.  We will ask parents and carers to then make your way to our ICT suite where we will ask you to complete a questionnaire giving a little more information about your children.  You will also have the chance to purchase second-hand uniform, and to talk to some of our school staff who your children will be getting to know.   

 

Half day settling-in sessions - now Monday 11 September and Tuesday 12 September

Your children will start school for the first two days with a half day session on each day.  For every child one of the days will be in the morning and the other in the afternoon.  For example your child will be invited in on the Monday morning and the Tuesday afternoon OR the Monday afternoon and the Tuesday morning.  

 

All Reception children will start school for full days from Wednesday 13 September

Bring your children to school at 8.40am for their first full day at school.
